Brittney's Story
When I found out I was pregnant at the age of seventeen, I felt like my life was ending. I remember trying to retrace my decision that led me to this circumstance. In an instant I was no longer the vibrant teenager that had a bright future. I felt alone, ashamed, and scared. I was no longer the straight A student; I was the “pregnant girl”.
I had my son at the beginning of my senior year of high school and struggled to finish with the help of my mom. After graduating, I turned down my scholarship to The Ohio State University and chose to attend a local college. I had no clue how I was going to make it through college without having help with my child. I made it through one month of college when I received the call that I was accepted into the Mom’s House program.
I cannot begin to explain the ways that Mom’s House has helped me over the years. I have faced many struggles yet I have had many triumphs as well. Last May I graduated from Mercy College of Northwest Ohio with my Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Nursing. I have two amazing boys that make my day worthwhile. I am married to a wonderful man, I have a full time job at a local hospital but most importantly I am no longer ashamed or scared. I carry my head high and have learned to face any challenges that may arise. Mom’s House has given me the strength to make a difference in my children’s lives.
